As many of you know one of my employees’ daughter, Taylor, suffered a severe spinal cord injury on January the 13th of this year in a sledding accident. She has since been diagnosed with Paraplegia.

The doctors are not giving her a very good prognosis at this time. Her family is currently expecting another 6-8 weeks of “in hospital” therapy and months of outpatient therapy.

This page is my attempt to help make this time in their family’s life easier. Taylor is going to turn 14 this Saturday the 29th and she will be doing so from a hospital room.

Will you be willing to help make this time easier for Taylor and her family? Will you consider making a small donation so we can purchase some things to help her pass the time?

Johnny is more than an employee to me and my family. He is also my friend.

He has been a partner with me through all the ups and downs of my business. His dedication and hard work has never wavered during this economic downturn. If anyone has shown their faith in me it has been Johnny. He has been one of the most encouraging people in my life over the last 10 years.

Will you help me to make this time easier on him by donating to this cause? It’s our goal with these donations to purchase some things for Taylor that will really help her. She is going to need a custom wheel chair as well as home modifications.

We would like to purchase a DSi for her as well as some games. If enough donations come in we would even like to get her some kind of a starter laptop to help her with her school work and just some entertainment time.

Please consider making a small donation on her behalf?

    Hi,
Just wanted to Thank You for putting this together. Johnny and I were childhood friends and this has deeply saddened our family. We wanted to do something but didn’t really know how to go about doing it! Our prayers are with the Hartwig family and I hope our donation helps Taylor get everything in your plans!
    Thanks again for posting.

James, I am Johnny’s Sister and Taylor’s Aunt. I cant thank you enough for putting this together nor can I express how moved Johnny was by it. I see so much of Johnny’s courage and spirit in Taylor. This little girls smile never fades no matter what the Dr’s tell her. We will be putting together Dart and Shuffleboard tournaments along with other events to try and help. On behalf of the Hartwig Family: “Everyone’s Thought’s, Prayers and/or Donations are so very much appreciated. God Bless you all”

Ok so I am trying to donate and it keeps telling me to enter a number greater than 0 and I am entering 20.00 and it will not let me do it. So maybe I just give it to you on church Sunday. Also, maybe we could help build her a ramp!

  23. Wendy Childress January 27, 2011 at 3:50 am #

We are having a benefit spaghetti dinner with the proceeds to go to the Hartwig family. February 19, 2011 at the Odessa Comminty Center serving from 6-9 pm. 24. James Dibben January 27, 2011 at 3:56 am #

Hmmm, I hope others aren’t having this problem!

Did you put in the $ sign? You don’t need to.

We can do it Sunday. That way paypal can’t take their fee.

We can talk about the ramp and see what we can do!

  25. James Dibben January 27, 2011 at 3:59 am #

    Thank you Wendy!

I’ll get this info on my facebook page. I’ve got a couple of facebook friends who have a lot of Odessa contacts so we will get the word out!

  26. Wendy Childress January 27, 2011 at 4:20 am #

When you decide about the ramp, please let me know also as I will call the cowboys and get some man power and tools to help.

I remember hearing about this on the news, but never knew what happened. Taylor’s Kindergarten teacher just told me about this site. I have a 13 year old daughter and can’t imagine what this family is going through. Please know they’re in my prayers!

  38. Lauradsnyder2003 January 29, 2011 at 12:13 am #

I know Taylor through Faith Community Church in OG. She is such a bright girl. My prayers go out to Taylor and her family.

We have an electric wheelchair that needs a battery. It’s barely used and was a $4000 wheelchair 2 1/2 years ago. I would love to give it to you even if Taylor needs it just temporarily. Turns on a dime with all the bells and whistles.

  40. Amy January 29, 2011 at 1:42 am #

Taylor, I’ve read this story on Kansas City Star online news for a few days, just following it. I grew up in Prairie Village, and am now in Springfield, MO. Please accept my donation for anything that you or your family will need that I just made through this site. I have no connection to you at all, just someone that wants to help you out from not too far away. Hang in there and be strong.
    Best Wishes,
    Amy H.

  41. James Dibben January 29, 2011 at 3:30 am #

I want to help with the fundraiser for Taylor at OGMS. Please let me know what I can do to help with the dance in any way. I was so excited that Channel 4 was at the basketball team’s last home game. I’m not sure who took the poster that the team made, but I know it will make T smile. I hope Taylor and her family know how much we are praying for her and how much we miss her. Sincerely, Coach Griffin
