Commandment 7 of Rabbi Daniel Lapin’s book Thou Shall Prosper is “Learn To Foretell The Future”. Daniel believes this is a very important rule when it comes to wealth creation. Obviously Mr. Lapin isn’t telling us we need to do this by mystical application.
Telling the future can be accomplished in many ways. Learning from your own or others’ mistakes is step one. Get involved in a Master Mind Group to really maximize learning from others.
As a leader in your organization (everyone is a leader regardless of their title) it’s your responsibility to help those around you see the future, most importantly the future of your company.
Most people (myself included) don’t have [a lot] of imagination. To see where a company is headed we need some help. That’s where the best leaders rise to the top. Here is a case study.
Our church is going through a really big period of growth right now. There are all kinds of opinions floating around as to why. The one I hear the most is that it’s the economic climate. During tough times there are more people and less money. I guess that can have [something] to do with it but I have a different opinion.
I think that one of the reasons we are seeing growth right now is because of our associate pastor. He has a completely different personality from our senior pastor. Whether or not he’s a better preacher is a matter of opinion. That’s not my point, exactly.
My point is this. With this new [young] associate pastor the congregation can see [where we are headed] and it’s a good place! You see, when the elder board hired this man as the associate pastor they were helping the congregation foretell the future. They were saying, “See, this is where New Life is headed”. Our church is growing because we can see where we are headed and we like it. We love the influence our associate pastor has had on the church so far.
You, as a leader, have to do the same thing. You need to show your followers where your company is headed. There are all kinds of ways to do this. My favorite is mentorship. Who you get your advice and help from shows the direction of your company. If you get your counsel from your buddies down at the bar on Friday nights then you are sending a message. If you are a part of an Eagles Group with older more experienced business men then you are sending a different message. Each is guaranteed to have different results.
The success level of those whom you get your advice from is a direct reflection of the future you.
Choose wisely.

I love the idea of a mastermind group. These groups help me to keep moving in the right direction and gives me the opportunity to help others. If anyone is interested we are starting an online mastermind group. You can check out the info here:http://www.48days.net/group/pursuingyourcalling/forum/topics/who-wants-to-be-in-a
