Today, Julie and I celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. I really can’t believe it’s been this many years!
If you’ve been married for more than 5minutes (okay, one year) then you know that falling in love is easy, it’s the staying in love part that’s hard.
Julie and I have spent 20 years staying in love. If you know us at all then you know we haven’t lived in some kind of sci-fi utopia during these 20 years. Just like everyone else we have had our share of challenges. No matter what has come our way we have managed to keep our focus on what really matters; our relationship with each other and our faith in Christ’s finished work at the cross. Even as we celebrate together this weekend at the top of our minds will be the fact we aren’t [exactly] spending this landmark event in the way that we planned. Like anyone else we had bigger aspirations for such a large number of years together.
Ultimately all we care about on our anniversary is time together and thanks to the help from family and friends both financially and through time donation we will get to do that.
Julie continues to be the love of my life. She is my best friend. She spends all of her time in service of others asking very little from anyone in return. She has been a source of strength and encouragement for me every step of the way. She has laughed with me and cried with me, never once making me feel embarrassed or ashamed to do either.
Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord .
